Mr. William Sidney Pittman was the first African American male graduate of Drexel Institute of Art, Science and Industry (now Drexel University).
This celebration is open to all graduating students; however, you MUST register in advance. Registration information is available here. Family and friends are welcome to attend. The ceremony begins promptly at 7:00 p.m. with a reception immediately following in the Bossone Atrium.
OUTSTANDING STUDENT AWARDS
We will award two students (one undergraduate and one graduate) with an outstanding student award.
Our undergraduate award is named after Mr. Stephen R. Cox who is Project Director for the Greater Philadelphia Region Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation. Mr. Cox also serves as the Advisor for Drexel Black Graduate Student Union.
Our graduate award is named after Ms. Jasmine Y. Wright. Jasmine was a 2015 Master of Public Health (MPH) graduate whose life was tragically taken shortly after graduating from Drexel.
