Meet the Speaker
Rana Leed, MPH, is a Dornsife School of Public Health alumnus currently working within the field of oncology clinical research. Graduating in 2007 within the Health Management and Policy track, she has spent time in academic medical centers on the East Coast at Drexel and Penn, on the West Coast at Oregon Health & Science University in Portland, and now in the Midwest at the Masonic Cancer Center at the University of Minnesota. For almost fifteen years, clinical research has been Rana’s focus, beginning as a coordinator on obstetric trials for an NIH consortium and then as a coordinator manager on oncology studies focusing on symptom management and integrative medicine. Switching her focus from patient-centered activities, Rana then moved into regulatory work, with her next role as the regulatory specialist with another NIH consortium. This role brought her to the world of substance abuse and HIV with studies in both domestic and international settings. After moving to Minnesota, Rana worked for the Department of Medicine at the University of Minnesota covering a wide range of divisions and studies including critical care, renal disease, benign hematology, and endocrinology. Currently, Rana is the regulatory specialist for the Minnesota Cancer Clinical Trials Network whose mission it is to bring cancer clinical trials out beyond the urban centers to rural patients. Public health and patient advocacy are at the heart of Rana’s work, ensuring that every study maintains the ethical principles of respect, beneficence, and justice. |
