Cake, Coffee, Culture & Conversation: Celebrating Our Individuality One Bite At a Time!
Start Date: 5/5/2012Start Time: 2:00 PM
End Date: 5/5/2012End Time: 4:00 PM

Event Description
For Alumni Weekend, visit the newly dedicated James E. Marks Intercultural Center (formerly the Newman Center), home of the Office of Equality & Diversity, Study Abroad, Office of Multicultural Programs, LGBTQ Resources, and Spiritual & Religious Life at Drexel (Including Interfaith Chapel, Muslim Prayer Room, Interfaith Council and Student Groups). This vibrant space has become home to programs that foster education, engagement, service, support and resources for students, faculty, professional staff and even alumni.

Working together, offices are promoting a campus culture that is welcoming, inclusive, respectful and engaging for all. Stop by for our family friendly “coffee house” event to meet the professional staff and students who are dedicated to the mission of the Center, and learn more about recent programs and future initiatives that would benefit from having more alumni support!

Today’s event will focus on the uniqueness we all possess — Join us in the decorating and sharing of a piece of birthday cake, engage in a discussion about birthdays, how we celebrate them (or not), how we honor ourselves, our growth, our identities and those we love, respect and appreciate. This simple tradition can serve as a reminder of how important identity formation and development can be in our college years, how the relationships we build during our college years prepare us for our lives ahead and how we grow to appreciate others’ unique differences.

Enjoy coffee, cake and conversation in the gallery space.
