Event Description Citizens and urban planners unite in "Urban Strategy in the Present Tense," a year-long speaker series dedicated to the local roots of civic innovation. From reinventing playgrounds, civic design, pedestrian mobility, fair housing, and green urban planning, this series brings together local public, private, and community leaders to discuss strategies for building a stronger, more just, and resilient city.
Join us as we discuss “Kensington Corridor Trust: The First Four Years,” the recent City Case released with the Nowak Metro Finance Lab.
Kensington Corridor Trust (KCT) was established in 2019 to revitalize and preserve the disinvested commercial corridor in Kensington, Philadelphia.
We will be joined by:
• Karen Black, author of Kensington Corridor Trust: The First Four Years and CEO of May 8 Consulting, a woman-owned social impact consulting firm
• Adriana Abizadeh, Executive Director of the Kensington Corridor Trust
• Darlene Burton, long-term Kensington resident and member of the original resident working teams, Trust Stewardship Committee and nonprofit board at KCT
The series is produced by the Lindy Institute for Urban Innovation at Drexel University in partnership with the Urban Strategy Masters Program in Drexel's Westphal College of Media, Arts & Design. Andrew Zitcer hosts the webinar and Thomas Devaney produces the series with production director Hazel Dequito.
