Event Description
Voices from El Sayed film Screening
April 22, 2021 at 4pm-6pm ET
Via Live Webcast

This is a screening of the fascinating documentary "Voices from El Sayed," introduced by Professor Sharrona Pearl. In the middle of the Negev desert in Israel, Bedouins have lived in an isolated village for hundreds of years. It's the only place in the world where the deaf population is almost 10% of the community, due to a congenital defect. No hearing aids can be seen because in this village, deafness is not a handicap. What happens when modernity enters this place in the form of the Cochlear Implant that can make people hear?
