End Date: 10/7/2020End Time: 4:45 PM

Event Description

The Academy’s Ichthyology Collection contains about 1.5 million diverse specimens from all around the world. Discover the important ways these specimens provide scientists with data and see their work in action. You’ll see the full process from start (collecting in the field) to finish (cataloguing, sequencing and more).

Ichthyology – the branch of zoology dealing with fishes. Derived from the greek word ikhthys meaning "fish."

Join us every day at 4 p.m. for a live virtual tour of a different Academy collection followed by a discussion with the scientists who care for them. Each tour and discussion will be about 45 minutes. The Virtual Collection Tours were developed for all ages.
