Labor rights violations are occurring every day in the United States, and fair wages are still not being paid out to many clothing makers in Los Angeles, California, and around the country. It’s time to look deeply at American manufacturing and push past the smoke and mirrors to see what is really going on in our own backyards.

Moderated by Westphal College professors Chris Baeza and Elizabeth Quinn, they'll host a discussion with:
  • Emily Long, Remake NYC Community Organizer and Drexel Alum
  • Aditi Mayer, Fashion Blogger and Labor Rights Activist
  • Jordan Nodarse, Founder of Boyish Jeans

and get to know the women and families who bring FashionNova, Ross, and Forever21 labels to life in Los Angeles - the clothing manufacturing capital of America - while exploring the reality of what it means to be made in America. They will also discuss:

  • Remake's viral #PayUp campaign that has unlocked $22 billion in stolen wages to garment makers worldwide.
  • The importance of ensuring the bill formerly known SB1399 makes if of the CA assembly floor and why we need more like it across the U.S.
  • How we can all #wearourvalues, to center our fashion purchases to promote social justice and equity.

This uplifting conversation is not to be missed and will illustrate the power of citizens coming together to do more good.
