Event Description Ever wish you could grow a superfood in one week and then make nutritious meal(s) with it? Most people think that growing food to eat requires a green thumb or at least warmer weather to grow fresh produce. However, with microgreens, you can grow a nutrient-packed superfood indoors using any light source (lamp or natural light) in just one week! Starting with seeds and soil, this microgreens workshop will share how to plant, grow, and harvest produce indoors. During the workshop, medical students Talmadge Gaither and Cynthia Huang will review the connections between health, diet, exercise, and preventive medicine in a fun and interactive format. In addition to learning how to grow microgreens and their associated health benefits, Food Labs Manager Rachel Sherman will present three easy recipes to incorporate microgreens into your diet. By the end of the experience, you will be ready to prepare a delicious fresh meal and come away with a clear understanding of how diet can promote long-term health outcomes for the whole family.
