Event Description
Nathaniel Lemisch: Senior Recital
June 4, 2023 | 2pm | MacAlister 2032
Free and Open to the Drexel Community
Join us on June 4th to celebrate Mike Moss Awardee, senior Nathaniel Lemisch, for his senior recital.
The recital will contain an hours’ worth of original music and arrangements. It will be split up into three sections – the first focusing on R&B, the second focusing on traditional jazz, and the third focusing on fusion jazz. Each section will be accompanied by a different backing band, to highlight the different styles of music Nathaniel enjoys playing and writing, as well as to spotlight the many talented performers he has had the pleasure of playing with.
The first set will feature original R&B music from the artist Karlia and her backing band, which includes a traditional rhythm section and a 4-piece horn section. This group has played gigs from World Café Live (Philly) to Chelsea Music Hall (NYC). The music was written by Karlia, Nathaniel, and Kenneth Blake, with the live horn arrangements done by Nathaniel.
The second set will feature original jazz music composed and arranged by Nathaniel along with members from the university jazztet. The pieces include two original tunes and one solo guitar-melody interpretation of But Beautiful.
The third set will feature fusion music arranged by Nathaniel along with members from the university Fusion Band. The chosen piece is Pleiades by Naughty Professor.
