Learning Objectives

  • Outline the initial approach to diagnosis and management of a child with jaundice.
  • Interpret the laboratory, imaging and other diagnostic studies obtained along the patient’s clinical course that led to the final diagnosis.
  • Review the differential diagnosis, pathophysiology, and prognosis of the final diagnosis.
  • Explain the management of the final diagnosis from the gastroenterologist and general surgeon perspectives.
