Event Description

A Conversation with Dr. Quincy Brown – Understanding the Gap in Female Engagement Across STEM Professions

Presented by the Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) Council at Drexel University’s College of Computing and Informatics (CCI), the Office of Alumni Relations, and the Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation.

This event will focus on the theme of diversity in STEM and the continuing education and employment gap for women, particularly Black women, and Latinas, as discussed in the April 2021 report by Pew Research Center, “"STEM Jobs See Uneven Progress in Increasing Gender, Racial and Ethnic Diversity."

The conversation will be hosted by CCI Associate Professor Michelle Rogers, PhD, who is a leader at Drexel on issues related to diversity, equity and inclusion with a particular focus on women in technology. Joining Dr. Rogers is alumna Quincy Brown, PhD computer science ’09, who is a senior policy advisor in the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP). Previously, Dr. Brown served as program director for STEM education research at the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), and as a senior director for innovation research at AnitaB.org.

This free, virtual event is open to the Drexel community.
