Exploring Interdisciplinary Opportunities in Technology

Event Description

This Roundtable will bring together leaders in technology to discuss the role of interdisciplinary collaboration on the technological challenges of tomorrow. The discussion will provide an opportunity for stakeholders to explore the ways in which science, engineering, law, business and other disciplines can work together to better address the needs of both the private and public sector within the rapid growth and change in technology.

The speakers include:

  • Eamon Gallagher: Eamon Gallagher is Senior Director of Commercialization at the Science Center. He joined the Science Center in 2016, working to build a unique & diverse community of high growth entrepreneurs at ic@3401, helping 90 companies raise more than $105M over the last 5 years. He is a part of the Science Center's commercialization team, building systems to allow startups to grow more quickly & efficiently through ic@3401, Phase 1 Ventures, the Digital Health Accelerator, and Launch Lane. Eamon is also the Director of the Entrepreneurial Law Clinic at Kline School of Law. Eamon is a graduate of Kline Law with a concentration in Business & Entrepreneurship Law and the University of Rhode Island with a B.S. in Public Policy and a B.A. in Philosophy.
  • Dee Nicholas: Dee Nicholas, assistant professor at Drexel's Westphal College of Media Arts & Design, is a registered architect, fine artist and certified interior designer. Nicholas researches, designs, and advocates for services and strategies to bring health and the security of living spaces to people in urban environments. By doing this, she strives to bring wellbeing and security to urban dwellers and inhabitants of all income levels. As urban populations continue to grow at unprecedented rates, these environments become the front line in many of the complex problems humanity faces. Nicholas holds an MFA from the University of the Arts and a Bachelor of Architecture from Carnegie Mellon University and is a Ph.D. student at Antioch University: School of Leadership and Change.
  • Matthew Schneider: Matthew Schneider is an Assistant Professor of Business Analytics at Drexel University and his research enables organizations to scale the value of their consumer data while protecting user data privacy. He holds a Ph.D. in Statistics from Cornell University and has advised a variety of financial services, privacy technology, and FinTech companies.
  • Steven Weber: Steven Weber is Professor and Head of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at Drexel University, where he has been a member of the faculty since 2003. He holds an M.S. (1999) and Ph.D. (2003) from The University of Texas at Austin and a B.S. (1996) from Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI, all in electrical and computer engineering. He served as the founding director of the Drexel University Cybersecurity Institute from 2014 through 2020 and is the founder and faculty mentor for the Drexel CyberDragons, a student cybersecurity competition group. His research interests include wired and wireless networked systems, with a focus on mathematical models, analysis, and optimization, as well as cybersecurity, with a focus on anomaly detection, data de- and reidentification, and wireless jamming. His research has been funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF), the Air Force Office of Scientific Research (AFOSR), the Office of Naval Research (ONR), the U.S. Army, the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), the National Security Agency, and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). He has served in a variety of publication and research-related service roles, including Associate Editor of IEEE/ACM Transactions on Networking and IEEE Transactions on Computing and as member (and occasionally chair) of many conference Technical Program Committees (TPCs) and Organizing Committees (OCs).
