Speaker: Michele D. Rattigan, MA, ATR-BC, NCC, LPC, clinical associate professor in the Creative Arts Therapies department and Art Therapy and Counseling program at the College of Nursing and Health Professions
Description: Regardless of skill and experience, low-stakes (non-judgmental) art making such as experimenting with media and doodling have been shown to reduce stress, enhance self-efficacy, and provide a platform for creativity, play, and innovation.
Participants will learn about mindful doodling for stress reduction in this one-hour workshop and engage with art materials using four different portable methods of mindfulness-informed doodling that do not require planning, specific materials, or large amounts of time to set aside to practice. Material suggestions for virtual participants: ANYTHING! Literally, you can’t mess this up… The beauty of the doodle.
Surfaces: Napkins, paper cups, notebooks, iPads (and other digital media), scrap paper,
Drawing implements: ballpoint pens, gel pens, markers, pencils, stylus, etc.
