Event Description

Volunteerism is a wonderful thing, but how do you make sure that your volunteers don't turn into voluntourists? This presentation will discuss the "white savior" complex in volunteering, highlighting some examples of how we can be mindful of the culture we're coming into when we visit these places and how we can positively impact their environment.

There are a lot of misconceptions about international volunteering, and we want to talk about how Engineers Without Borders is able to be on the right side of the curve with it.
