Event Description

In honor of International Women’s Day, the College of Computing & Informatics’ Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Council, the College of Nursing and Health Professions (CNHP), the Board of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion at CNHP, the Student Center for Diversity and Inclusion (SCDI), and the Center for Black Culture (CBC) will be hosting a special event: “A Conversation with Dr. Veronica D. Carey, PhD, CPRP, CDE®.”

In this talk, Dr. Carey will discuss her book, Frame Your Degree: How to Avoid Pain While Seeking a College Degree, and will also explore the “Top 10 Academic Bullying Pain Points” that students endure to get their diploma. Furthermore, Dr. Carey will discuss how many women bring these exact pain points into the workforce as unrequited issues impacting mental health on the job.

Frame Your Degree (Peacock Press, 2023) is a compassionate, informative and practical guide tailored to help you thrive in higher education. Through personal stories, case studies and easy-to-understand research, this book will inspire you to create an inclusive environment where your unique identity can shine.

Following the talk (moderated by CCI Associate Professor Michelle Rogers, PhD), the event will include a Q&A session and an informal networking reception where you can meet Dr. Carey and have your copy of Frame Your Degree signed. Light refreshments will be provided. CCI will host a free raffle for attendees for a chance to receive Dr. Carey’s book.

This free event is open to the Drexel community. Please register online here .
