Event Description
POGIL (Process Oriented Guided Inquiry Learning) is an active learning approach in which students work in groups to complete in-class activities. In this panel discussion, three different implementations of this pedagogical approach will be presented. Daniel King is an Associate Professor in Chemistry, who has used POGIL activities for more than 15 years. Tammy Pirmann is an Assistant Professor in Computer Science and was the inaugural winner of the POGIL Early Career Achievement Award. Monica Togna is an Associate Teaching Professor in the Biology Dept; she teaches a number of the introductory biology courses for the science majors and structures her courses around evidence-based teaching methods including flipped-classroom elements.
