Event Description
Exhibition from March 11, 2022 through March 2023. On March 11, the Anthony J. Drexel Picture Gallery in the Main Building will open A New Kind of House, a
year-long exhibition celebrating eight years of Writers Room—a
university-community literary arts program engaged in creative
placemaking and
art for social justice. The photography and writing of students and
neighbors, displayed alongside and in conversation with pieces from The
Drexel Collection, will engage in a rich dialogue about the changing
face of our university and surrounding neighborhoods.
Writers Room is a diverse, intergenerational collective of
students/alumni, faculty/staff, and neighborhood residents whose work
demonstrates a desire for collaborative opportunities in our joint
communities. A New Kind of House is created in partnership
between Writers Room, ArtistYear and The Drexel Collection. Supported in part by Canon CSA and the Philadelphia Cultural Fund. The exhibition is curated by Lori Waselchuk.
Please RSVP for the opening reception on March 11th from 4-6pm.
The exhibition is free and open to the public Monday - Friday 3:30-5pm or by appointment.
