20 Years of STAR Lecture Series

Event Description
Join us to celebrate the 20 year legacy of the STAR (Students Tackling Advanced Research) Scholars Program! Throughout July and August 2022, Undergraduate Research & Enrichment Programs will host a weekly lecture series, during which Drexel faculty and STAR alumni will give presentations about their experience with and the impact of the STAR Scholars Program. Attendees may join us virtually or in person, with lunch served for in-person attendees.
 
 
Speakers for Wednesday, August 10:
 
Kristine Loh (she/her) is a PhD Candidate in Chemical Engineering at the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities. As an NSF GRFP and a College of Science and Engineering Fellow, her research focuses on investigating the optical properties of silicon/silica core/shell quantum dots for luminescent solar concentrator applications. She received her Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering and her Master's Degree in Materials Science and Engineering from Drexel University in 2020 as a member of the Pennoni Honors College. In her free time, she enjoys experimenting with her air fryer, exploring the Twin Cities, and volunteering at K-12 STEAM outreach events.
 
Michelle Dolinski is a faculty member in the Department of Physics. Her work in experimental nuclear and particle physics focuses on the properties of neutrinos. She has mentored eight STAR students from a variety of majors over the last ten years.
 
Prof. Dana D'Angelo's areas of interest include global engagement, team and leadership development, experiential learning, and accounting and finance. With over 30 years of experience in higher education, as well as a professional consulting background, Dana has brought early adoption and innovation into the curriculum with consulting-based project management programs, global classrooms, and intensive courses abroad. She has partnered with universities and organizations around the globe, and her work in these areas has resulted in multiple research publications and presentations, as well as extensive faculty and student mentoring. Dana is a licensed CPA and CMA, a certified trainer for Ennea International, Inc. and the recipient of several teaching awards over the years.
