Event Description
As part of the  Gateway to the University: the Collections   at Drexel  special exhibition, opening in fall this year at the Paul Peck Alumni Center gallery, three Drexel scholars came together to create a video around the celebrated Arts and Crafts designer William Morris (1834–96) and his use of natural dyes, especially indigo, which during the 19 th  century was imported from India. On Tuesday May 4 th , at 7.00 pm, Clare Sauro (Westphal), Debjani Bhattacharyya (CoAS) and Robert Peck (ANS) will be joined by other Drexel colleagues for a webinar conversation about Morris’ design philosophy, his use of botanical books as source materials, and the punitive conditions in Bengal under which indigo was grown.
