WiCS Women's History Month Talk: The Success Story of Thulasi - From Poverty in India to a Full-Ride

Event Description
This free, virtual event is presented by Drexel's Women in Computing Society (WiCS).

Thulasi was born in a remote village in India. She belongs to the Dalit caste, a caste deemed "untouchable" by Indian society. Her family earns less than $2/day. After graduating from Shanti Bhavan boarding school, Thualsi earned a full-ride to study Marketing and International Political Economics at the College of Idaho. Hear about her story from poverty and not having a voice to paving a way to achieving her dreams at this event. Thulasi's school, Shanti Bhavan was covered in the Netflix docuseries - "Daughters of Destiny", made by Oscar-winning filmmaker Vanessa Roth.
